Workout with Trainer Mike today.
I realized, during my workouts with both CE (Chalean Extreme) and TMT (10 minute Trainer), i have a VERY difficult time doing the jumps that require both of my legs to come up simultaneously to at minimum hip height and bringing my arms down to my knees to meet them.
I talked to Trainer Mike about my dilemma, and he ascertained that my hip flexors are very weak. So, what does he do? lol you guessed it! Worked out my hip flexors!
We did other routines as well, but i'm here to talk about the 2 exercises that he had me do. Basically, i'm sharing the wealth of knowledge lol!
The first exercise he had me sit on the edge of the bench, lean back to i guess 45% and bring my bent legs up as far as i could, alternating right and left. This worked both my lowers Abs and hip flexors.
The second exercise he had me lay on my back on the bench, legs raised and bent to 90%, he wrapped the bands aroundy feet and i had to pull as close to my chest as i could.
If you are alone, you can still do this exercise by tying the band to a steady, sturdy object and your feet. This was very hard, and you also need to make sure your back stays on the bench, or floor, to prevent back injury.
I am glad i know this because now i can work them at home in addition to my workouts to help me improve and be able to properly complete those routines for maximum benefit.
I also have a major push-up weakness. I was taking the 100/200/200 challenges, but i had to put that on hold while doing the CE workouts. Trainer Mike wanted me to do push-ups and when i expressed my distaste for this particular exercise he made me do it 3 different ways. I think i secretly do this so he pushes me harder, because i know if no one MAKES me do it, i won't.
Like Tony Horton says (and i stated in another post or two), if you suck at something, keep doing it until you master it. Well, i guess I'm on a push-ups mission aren't i?
