From Cover to Cover

Last week my husband and I went on our yearly trip to West Virginia.

I love it there. No technology where we stay, so i have time to catch up on some reading when we aren't on excursions, or I'm not out taking loads of pictures.

This year i was able to read The Slight Edge: Secret to a Successful Life by Jeff Olson cover to cover, non-stop in one day. This was one of the things on my 100 things i want to do before i die list; read a book cover to cover in one day.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, regardless of your gender, marital status, employment status, line of work, etc. It truly opened my eyes to life and how i look at it, which i always thought was a positive outlook.. It was a great experience and i felt very good after reading it. It also kept my interest, in-other-words it was an easy read.

A quote from Chapter 7 that is just so true i had to share:

It resists definition yet can be instantly recognized. IT comes in many variation, yet follows certain unchanging laws. IT brings rich rewards, yet is not really a goal or a destination but rather a process, or journey. We call this journey mastery and tend to assume that it requires a special ticket available only to those born with exceptional abilities. But master is not reserved for the super-talented or even for those who are fortunate enough to have gotten an early start. It's available to anyone who is willing to get on the path and stay on it-regardless of age, sex or experience.
The trouble is that we have few, if any, maps to guide us on the journey or even to show is how to find the path. The modern world, in fact, can be viewed as a prodigious conspiracy against mastery. We're continually bombarded with promises of immediate gratification, instant access, and fast, temporary relief, all of which lead in exactly the wrong direction....
