Day 112

11/23/09

HAPPY MONDAY!

Anxiety levels were still a bit high today. Thankfully Mondays are Yoga days at work. I never usually partake in the Yoga class because I'm busy on Mondays or i forget my mat and proper clothing, but not today!

Today i remembered to wear Yoga appropriate clothes to work AND bring my mat. GO ME!
Thankfully I did because the 40 minutes of breathing and stretching REALLY helped calm me down.

I didn't realize how tense i was until class. My jaw was tight, my shoulders clenched, everything was just AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! like it wanted to scream! Especially my breathing, apparently i was shallow breathing for, has to be going on, 2 weeks now. It took nearly the first 30 minutes of class to lower my stomach and release my chest and breathe deep yoga breaths.

Combined with the stretching, it really helped loosen me up and calm me down. I feel 85% better than i did before i started. The only aspect of class i was disappointed in was the length of Savasana, it wasn't long enough. Once i finally started to rest into deep relaxation it was time to get moving again. BUMMER! but all in all it was an excellent class, and much needed as well. I'm going to see if i can't find a REALLY good tape or live class to take at least once a week. I need the Yoga that makes me calm myself not just stretches me.

Up until the spring of this year and last fall, i was taking Yoga classes 2ce a week at my high school. LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Well, the high school didn't send me their fall/winter course offerings so i missed the deadline for sign-ups (those jerks). I have noticed the difference too, I'm edgy, plus working out hardcore with the Beachbody programs really doesn't help! lol. it's great to exercise and my mind knows it's a great thing, but my body is like STRESS!!!! STRESS!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME!!! lol
So i think it is important to balance real good relaxation Yoga with the workouts I'm doing, at least in my case.

Tonight's workout:

Chalean Extreme:

Burn it off
Extreme Abs

OMG.
That is all i have to say about this workout.. Extreme Abs is definitely EXTREME. I will be feeling this for days. I love "Burn it off". It's one of my favorite workout routines to date. It's extreme, and it makes you sweat. There are only 2 routines though that i have problems with. For some reason i'm not a good jumper. Not sure why. I don't know if it is because the muscles that connect my torso to my legs aren't very strong, or I'm just too white to jump! lol (that was supposed to be funny.. LAUGH ALREADY!). I also have a problem with the exercise that goes from standing to almost a push up and back.. for some reason i just can't do it! i think it also utilizes those muscles.

Whatever the case may be, it's a toughy.. i love it for the challenge. I also realized that i NEVER EVER go with the the people that are doing the easier versions of the workout. I go balls to the wall right with The lead trainer, in this case Chalene Johnson. I may not use the weight she uses, because I'm not as strong as her (yet), but my intensity it certainly at her level.

Thank you Chalene for bringing to the fold a KICK ASS workout routine.. i didn't even get to the PUSH Circuits yet and I've already dropped 2% body fat. I'm on week 3.
