The Only Bug I Like

After reading this article tonight, that Tony Horton posted on his Facebook Page, I finally have a phrase to put with how i feel about my workouts = I have the workout Bug! It's just about borderline addiction right about now.

I have to admit it was in a mental slump the last couple of weeks. I just didn't "feel" it, but the workouts i did do i brought what i could muster up to get it done. In my opinion, everyone needs a rest when they are just not feeling it, either mentally, physically or both. They shouldn't, however, stop their workouts. Maybe change it up a bit, If you are a walker, maybe bring hand weights with you or change up the music on your IPod. If you are like me, stuck on videos, change them up! I went and bought the Great Body series to add to my 10 minute trainer routine for more diversity.

Now that I'm nearing the end of my 10 minute trainer high, i have decided to move to the more hardcore routines called Chalean Extreme. This will, in fact, get me ready for the P90X that i am letting my Fiance' dabble in until my 90 days with Chalene is up.

I love to workout, better yet, i hate being sedentary. Like this past weekend for instance. I woke up 4 hours later than i normally would on a Sunday. i missed Church, i ate breakfast for lunch and them plopped on the couch to watch COPS all day long. Made dinner, finished up the laundry and headed home. I was disgusted with myself.

My FH said "your body obviously needed it". That's all well and good, and i do love him dearly, but i am the type that can NOT sit still. I get cranky. Unless I'm ill, or basking in the sun with a good book I'm moving, period. That is why this weekend (though i have no workouts planned due to resting time since I'm working out hardcore this week) i have basically scheduled my weekend out. I am going to paint the basement, maybe delve into my fall cooking. I really want to make homemade chicken soup, clean and possibly move some of my boxes up to his house. I also want to go find an ivory table cloth for the dinning room and work on my table scape for the wedding, and maybe take some photos of that to see how i like it. I have a Crop walk on Sunday with my church as well, plus Mass. All of that should keep me busy. Heck even 1/3 of that will keep me busy! So i guess i do have a workout scheduled on Sunday.. A 2k walk!

Another thing that struck me as awesome is that the first couple in the article turned off the TV. During the week the only TV i watch is the news while having dinner, and 40 minutes of my soap opera that i watch on-line. That's it! My previous employer never watched TV, maybe to catch the news now and again, she called it .. the idiot box. She's right!

We are so stuck on "our shows" that it has taken us away from healthy eating, healthy living, and healthy family lives because that is just so much more important. My FH is an idiot box junky. I love you babe! The moment he opens his eyes it's on. Me? i throw laundry in, straighten up, make my coffee, and maybe turn the TV on, if i don't have a kick ass magazine to flip through. I don't want my kids to live for the TV. The TV will be used as a reward and it's time managed.

People say, you'll see when you have kids.. Maybe i will see, but i believe there is more to family than throwing the kids in front of an idiot box. DO things with them, make them read! get them involved in things to peak their curiosities and maybe just maybe help them find who they will be when they grow up. That type of lifestyle will almost guarantee not fat children, that and a healthy diet.
